"Presentation and understanding of dating results" Workshop

The Workshop title is "Presentation and understanding of dating results" and is organised primarily for young researchers interested in different absolute dating methods and their applications in various fields of natural sciences. It will lay emphasis on internationally recommended forms of presentation of dating results to improve understanding of their meaning among earth scientists and archaeologists.

This will be the first workshop in a series of three and titles of the other two are:

  • "Towards improved absolute chronology of Late Pleistocene and Holocene"
    This Workshop will focus on new or improved methods of absolute dating and on the latest achievements in constructing geological and archaeological chronologies.
  • "Isotope methods in environmental studies"
    Besides main subjects of absolute chronology methods, will provide a better insight into different aspects of applying isotope methods in environmental studies.

The lecturers at the Workshop will be invited from Poland and abroad, they are well-known scientists who will be representatives of interesting laboratories absolute dating, also the employee of Department of Radioisotopes Institute of Physics Silesian University of Technology will be lecturers.
The accomodation and travel costs will be covered in frames of Centre of Excellence project, funded by European Commission, for 20 young scientists from Poland (10 persons) and from abroad (10 persons) who will arrive at the Workshop.
Apart from these participants, others scientists and students interested in subject introduced in programme can take participation in Workshop. The participants do not bring in conference fee, covering only the cost of subsistence.
